Blueprint Coaching FAQ’s

Question 1: Coaching, Mentoring, Training and Consulting, what's the difference anyway?

Answer: Consulting is when I tell you what you should do, and often help you implement it. Training is when I teach you how to do something, through instruction, demonstration, facilitation and practice. Mentoring is when I walk alongside you and share what I've learned to guide you. Coaching is when I help you see things differently, increasing your awareness so you can expand your own options for how you think and act.

I assess each client's needs to determine the best service or combination of services to support their desired outcome.

Question 2: Why combine coaching, training and mentoring?

Answer: Training builds the skill; it's the learning event. Mentoring adds story and relational context, and coaching builds awareness of the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Together they turn a skill into embodied, lasting behaviour, not just a one-off session, whereas consulting sits to one side as its own distinct delivery mode.

Question 3: What is an ICF credentialed coach?

Answer: It means I've met a recognised global standard, rigorous training, an ethical code, and ongoing accreditation. I hold the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential, which requires over 500 logged coaching hours, and the ICF Mentor Coaching Specialisation (MCS) certificate, which shows I’ve completed additional training in coaching and mentoring skills.

Question 4: What is life coaching? And how is it different from executive or leadership coaching?

Answer: Life coaching is a broad, valuable field supporting people across every area of their lives, from relationships to wellbeing to personal growth. What distinguishes coaching at Blueprint is the credentialing behind it, the ICF standards, the PCC training and hours, the Mentor Coaching Specialisation, applied specifically to leadership, workplace and business contexts, so it sits alongside disciplines like mentoring, training and consulting rather than as a single standalone lifestyle offering.

Question 5: Is coaching a form of therapy?

Answer: No. Therapy tends to look backward, healing and processing the past.
Coaching looks forward, focused on where you're going and what's possible from here.

Question 6: How long does coaching typically take?

Answer: It varies by client, Blueprint Coaching room and goal. Some engagements are a handful of sessions around one challenge, others run for months as part of an ongoing journey. Each program is co-created and tailored to meet the client’s needs.
